I met Teresa Lourenco at Juice Press in 2010, where she quickly became one of the first loyal customers. I was always captivated by her beauty, her passion for healthy living, and her deep appreciation for nourishing foods. Years later, in 2016, our paths intertwined in a new way—we built a friendship that blossomed into a romance, leading us to marry in Mexico in 2017. Together, we merged our families: Teresa with her children, Zaria and Lion, and me with Luna and Minnie. In 2021, we welcomed our little Nova Shakti into the world, solidifying our bond even further.
Teresa stood by my side during my transition out of Juice Press, witnessing the shift from my relentless, fast-paced lifestyle to an unfamiliar stillness in 2019. Before the ink had even dried on my closing agreement, she was already encouraging me to get back to doing what I love. "You know how to help people get healthy," she reminded me. "And no one makes juice better than you. Now bring me home fresh juice every night!" Her unwavering belief in me was the push I needed to jump back into the game. Teresa has been an integral part of goodsugar—not just behind the scenes, where she helps test products and shape branding, but also as a source of inspiration. People assume I’m the health expert, but truthfully, Teresa was embracing raw foods and juicing before I was. She’s also far better in the kitchen than me, not to mention a natural spokesperson with a presence that outshines mine in every way.
As a fun side note, our very first date was a yoga class. I invited her to what I considered the hardest yoga school in New York City at the time—Lighthouse, led by Jared McCann. Under Jared’s guidance, Teresa became a dedicated and authentic yoga practitioner, while I made sure to keep both of them grounded in reality. Today, we are both deeply committed to our personal yoga practices and, above all, to our children.
Our vision for the future is clear: we aim to expand goodsugar to 50+ locations across the country, get our health food products into major supermarkets, and eventually launch Teresa’s own line of simple, natural skin and hair care products. That project will come in due time. Teresa is a warm, loving, and deeply genuine soul, and I am beyond blessed to have her as my partner in life, business, and everything in between.
