To be successful as a plant based eater, you have to get your nutrients and calories from a wide range of fruits and vegetables. The more the merrier. A person is lucky to be born on a tropical island with incredible produce. By incredible produce, I mean avocado, coconut, mango, papaya, romaine, potatoes, radishes, tomatoes, cucumbers, watermelon, and citrus. These foods are unbelievable.
Some places can even grow species of mushrooms that are proven to be nutritious. Not all mushrooms are. I am not a mushroom expert, so research any mushroom carefully to see whether it belongs in your diet.
One thing I love about mushrooms, the regular ones and the psychedelic ones too, is that they are very odd creatures. I look at them and wonder if they are even of this world, though I am probably wrong. Mushroom nutrition has been loosely studied, but I wouldn't say there is a consensus among nutrition PhDs that mushrooms offer truly valuable nutrients you can't easily get from other produce. I admit my ignorance here. What I can say is that I love mushrooms, I eat them, and they agree with my body.
