The GoodSugar Diet: Lose Weight, Burn Fat, Boost Immunity, and Expand Your Mind, By Marcus Antebi
1: Why I Can Help You
My name is Marcus Antebi, and I am grateful to have had a rich and fulfilling life, which I plan to continue for the next 50+ years. I have a unique set of experiences that qualify me to write this book.
Throughout my life, I have overcome various challenges. I survived 13 years of skydiving and retired with over 2,300 jumps. I also participated in competitive Muay Thai fighting. In 2010, I founded Juice Press, a successful juice company that grew to 85 stores before I stepped down.
However, the most significant achievement in my life is overcoming my addiction to marijuana. Since 1985, I have been clean and sober, and this personal journey has given me deep insights into addiction and recovery.
I became passionate about recovery while witnessing my father and sister struggle with their weight and the role of food in their lives. This left a profound impact on me, and I developed a complex from their problems. Despite my efforts, I couldn't save them from their addictions and suffering. Now, I am channeling my energy and knowledge into writing about self-help topics, which I find therapeutic and satisfying.
My mentor, Fred Bisci, is a great man who has been 100% raw vegan for approximately 55 years. He possesses a remarkable understanding of diet and the human body. I am a devoted vegan myself and have been practicing yoga since 1997. Yoga has helped me learn how to concentrate, focus, and maintain a positive mindset, steering clear of addictive tendencies.
Writing about health and wellness has become a passion of mine. I stepped down from Juice Press to focus on this book and other similar projects. Through my current health and wellness company, goodsugar™, I aim to improve and maintain people's health while promoting social and environmental responsibility.
I sincerely hope that my writing will encourage and benefit you as you strive to become a better person and make the world a better place.
2: Who This Book Is For and How to Use It
This book is for anyone who seeks true health and happiness. While it offers weight loss tips, it is not about quick fad diets that provide temporary results. Instead, this book encourages comprehensive lifestyle changes that will not only help you lose weight but also maintain it, improve your body chemistry, and embark on a positive journey toward optimal mental, physical, and emotional health and wellness.
Toxic diets and poor eating habits are prevalent worldwide, regardless of race, creed, or religion. We have deviated from what is ideal for us, and it's time to change that.
Throughout history, humanity has shifted from deep connections with the land to becoming malnourished dependents. This transformation led to large-scale agriculture, warfare, pandemics, and the current state of rampant obesity and food-related illnesses.
However, as individuals become more aware and positively shift their eating patterns, they contribute to changing the world. By raising your consciousness and awareness, you become part of a collective consciousness.
This book primarily focuses on food, but it recognizes that our absolute necessities are interconnected. Air, water, shelter, warmth, human contact, safety, habits and routines, dignity, love, enjoyment, stillness, and connection with the cosmos and divine consciousness—all these components are intertwined. Whether you perceive this as a spiritual or intellectual statement, the message remains the same.
Relearning food and dietary patterns require a holistic, all-encompassing approach that involves surrendering to your healing and self-realization. This surrender may be a gradual process or an instant realization, but it is essential to embark on the journey of self-improvement.
