Overcoming Imperfect Beginnings

Overcoming Imperfect Beginnings

Is it possible that throughout history, some people were born into harmonious families, where they were given everything they needed? These individuals might have carried the torch of enlightened generations before them. Enlightened with what, you may ask? For one, their path was peaceful, and they worked to spread the good news about consciousness. They protected the Earth and its creatures.

However, what's more likely is that most of us are born into imperfect societies, imperfect families, and among imperfect people. We grow up with imperfect school systems, justice systems, social structures, and leadership. Additionally, our minds seem to naturally flow into negativity unless we actively do things to boost them.

My experience has shown that many great, compassionate teachers struggled deeply in their childhoods, even with subtle challenges like not having the right role models or experiencing trauma and not understanding their feelings. They faced much worse, too. There’s no shame in looking at our leaders' humble beginnings and seeing where their struggles began and how they found the strength to overcome them.
