I wanted to share my thoughts on the pricing of products at the goodsugar Store. After leaving my previous juice company, which began pasteurizing their juices with high-pressure pasteurization, I realized how that process compromises the freshness and flavor of the juice. The result is a product that can last for days, even weeks, but often tastes flat and uninspired. Fresh juice is superior in every way, yet my former company didn't adjust their prices to reflect the diminished quality.
In New York, competition has been fierce, and unfortunately, some prices are outrageous. For example, there's a company that charges over $17 for a single juice, including tax and bottle deposit. It raises a valid question: who can maintain that as a lifestyle in New York City or anywhere else for that matter? While I understand that rising produce costs—exacerbated by the pandemic—are a reality, we’ve adopted a different business model at goodsugar. We prioritize high volume with lower profit margins over the opposite approach.
At goodsugar, you’re getting the best cold-pressed juice made from organic produce, served fresh in glass—no plastic to interfere with your healthy choice. Our pricing reflects this commitment: two juices for $18 and two shots for $10 (2.5 ounces each). This is an incredible value for a top-tier product!
My grandfather once said, "The one with the lowest price point and the best product always wins." Okay, maybe he never said that, but if I had a grandfather who worked in retail, I’m sure he would have! Ultimately, I believe that offering quality and affordability together sets us apart in this competitive market.
