goodsugar and Kosher Standards
It is remarkably simple for a business like goodsugar to maintain kosher standards because we do not work with animal protein or dairy. Our entire menu is plant based, which eliminates many of the complexities that come with certification. The real work lies in how we source and prepare our produce.
The most important part of our process is how we wash and handle leafy greens and vegetables. At goodsugar we use an industrial produce washer and follow multiple cleaning cycles to ensure every leaf is thoroughly rinsed. We do not cut corners. Our vendors are carefully selected to provide us with produce that already meets high standards in the field. That means the greens arrive in excellent condition and require less corrective cleaning, unlike lower grade produce that often comes from poor field conditions and demands excessive washing.
This attention to detail is not new to us. We learned the importance of field quality and strict cleaning procedures during our years of operating 85 Juice Press locations in New York City. Back then, when we worked with produce from less reliable vendors, the greens often arrived covered in soil or debris, and the cleaning process was much more demanding. With goodsugar we have refined everything, starting with vendor selection, so that cleanliness and quality are built into the system from the beginning.
Our kosher certification is handled by the International Kosher Council, a respected certifying body. If you search “kosher” on the main page of our website you will find the most up to date certification. This certification is not just a stamp on paper—it reflects the actual standards of integrity, cleanliness, and respect for food that we practice every day.
For our guests, kosher at goodsugar is not just about religious observance. It is also about trust. It means our food is prepared in a way that respects tradition, respects purity, and respects the body.
